28/07/2015
It is important to ensure your roof is in tip top condition, The summer months is the best time of year to check your roof and carry out some simple tasks to keep it going for years to come.
-We highly recommend you to take all the necessary safety procedures when on your roof.
Simple tips for your roof
- Inspecting the roof: Once you are on the roof safely, the first thing you need to check is to see if there is any debris on your roof. If this is the case, remove the debris, such as leaves and branches, to ensure the roof is completely clear. By not doing so could result in water stagnation that can pose as a problem later on.
- Roofline: Check that your gutters are clear of any moss, leaves and other debris. This can be removed but if you're unsure, call in a professional. If the gutters are blocked this can sometimes stop the flow of water, resulting in a potential roofing problem. Whilst your up there, check for any broken guttering – if you find any, this can be easily fixed by a professional roofer.
- Missing tiles: Make sure there are no broken or missing tiles, as this could cause problems once the unpredictable British weather kicks in.
- Branches: If your home is surrounded by lots of trees, pay attention to any overhanging branches and if possible, cut them down to avoid any damage to your roofing.
