Benefits of an Insulated Flat Roof

06/11/2015

In the week between Halloween and Guy Fawkes night, autumn really ramps up its game. The golden brown leaves are more likely to be seen on the pavement than the trees and, when out and about, a scarf and gloves suddenly no longer seem an outrageous proposition. Indoors, the temptation can be to turn the thermostat up a couple of notches now that winter is approaching - but what can you do to ensure that heat you are paying for doesn’t dissipate over time?

Well, you could insulate your roof. Up to 25% of heat can be lost through the roof. In order to bring that percentage down, you will want your flat roof to be well insulated. We know our customers take energy efficiency extremely seriously and that is why we only use the highest rated insulating materials in our flat roofing sytems: These include:

  • Kingspan
  • Celotex
  • Ecotherm

There is a lot of jargon in the insulation industry. A “fibre-free, rigid thermoset insulation core faced with... a low emissivity composite foil” may sound like something you might find in a nuclear reactor - but is actually an everyday insulation board supplied by Kingspan that is particularly effective at keeping warmth in and cold out.

Celotex is a manufacturer of premium fiberboard insulation and are responsible for both the thinnest and the thickest boards available in the UK. Ecotherm supply a number of different insulation products for a number of different purposes. Their lightweight boards offer excellent thermal protection.

If you are interested in having a roof built or refurbished and want to know more about insulation, call us on 01603 418818. One of our knowledgeable team will be able to talk you through the various options and help you select the insulation that is right for the roof you want.
