Slate Roof Replacement for Norwich Terraced House
06/12/2022After more than three decades in the industry, we have learnt that no two roofs are ever the same. You have the obvious differences between flat and pitched. There are also the differences that come with with clay and slate tiled roofs. In some cases, such as this recent project we worked on, it is a combination of both.
The property, a large terraced house, was located in the centre of Norwich. The front section of the roof was covered with slate, whilst the rear was covered with pan tiles. To enable us to begin replacing the roof covering, we first had to strip all the existing tiles from the roof. With the roof cleared, we were able to recover the structure using a new modern breather membrane and fresh battens.
Fortunately, many of the old pan tiles were still in excellent condition. Each was checked, stacked and then refitted. Where it was not possible to reuse an existing tile due to damage, we sourced and fitted second hand matching reclaim tiles. At the front of the property, we sourced and fitted new slates to the roof.
We pride ourselves on the little details and this project was no different. The slate roof was finished with beautiful lead hips, along with an ornamental clay ridge - both of which look absolutely fantastic and really add to the overall look of the property.
