Norfolk Trusted Trader is a directory of local and accredited service providers. It is backed by Norfolk County Council and is checked by their local Trading Standards team. The directory covers just about every service you could imagine, from roofing to IT and car repairs to personal care. All of the businesses listed have been thoroughly vetted to ensure that consumers can find the services they require and avoid falling foul of rogue traders.

Whilst there is no perfect vetting system for choosing a service provider, there are a number of steps that ReferenceLine recommends you take.

• Reviews: Look for a consistent pattern of review. A handful of glowing historic reviews, or a sudden spike in recent recommendations, isn’t something to get impressed by. Look for a contractor with a track record of regular ratings and reviews in nine of the previous twelve months.
• Shop Around: Never take the first quote you receive. Always seek to get three or four quotes from different providers and weigh them up against one another.
• Confirm Price: Speak to your provider and agree what it is you would like them to do. Make sure that everything is included before agreeing to proceed.
• Take Your Time: Don’t rush or feel pressured into agreeing to a quote. Take your time to think it over and get back to them. It is OK to change your mind!
