Installation: Cold Applied Liquid System for Cockley Cley Church
23/11/2016The village of Cockley Cley lies on the river Gadder a few miles west of Swaffham. The All Saints Church is a partially rebuilt medieval church which is open to visitors. Sadly, in 1991 the original round tower collapsed and has never been fully restored. That was just the beginning of this church’s woes.
Recently, the lead roofing that had kept the church waterproof since its restoration in Victorian times was stolen. This is all too common a problem for rural churches and this isn’t the first time we’ve been called in to fix a roof that has been damaged by thieves.
Replacing the Stolen Lead
Replacing all that stolen lead would be a costly process for the church and there is always the danger of the thieves returning. We recommended a cold applied liquid system which would provide long term, aesthetic and safe waterproofing for the church’s roof. We spent a day removing what remained of the lead and renewing the church roof with a modern waterproof system that should be of no interest to thieves.
Cold Applied Liquid System
Liquid Roofing Systems are cold applied systems that can be applied quickly and dry into a flexible waterproof coating. Our roofs come with a thirty year guarantee, so visitors to this historic Norfolk church can rest assured that they won’t be troubled by inclement weather.
The new roofing system gives the impression of a lead roof without the expense.
