Installation: 3 Layer Felt System on Jarrolds Warehouse
12/07/2016The summer months are the busiest time for us. We get lots of domestic jobs done, but we also take on bigger commercial contracts. When Norwich department store Jarrolds called us to help maintain the roof of one of their warehouses, we removed the old roof and installed a three-layer built up felt system that’s guaranteed to last for decades to come. Find out how we did it.
The old roof was covered in moss and lichen. In the short term, these plants can clog guttering systems. Over longer periods of time, the growth of these plants can expand small surface imperfections in an old roof eventually allowing water to get into your roof structure. We filled quite a few wheelbarrows shovelling it all away, before tearing up the old roof.
We laid down the first layer of our specially developed three-layer felt system. These high performance systems are fire-resistant and acoustically insulated, making them a quality alternative to the traditional asphalt.
We completed the second layer. The three layers of felt means these flat roof systems are less prone to cracking than asphalt when exposed to freezing temperatures.
The final layer was been added and the roof was sealed and finished. Jarrolds were delighted with the finished roof, which comes with a 25 year company guarantee.
