Turn your Roof into a Winter Wonderland this Christmas
15/12/2016Here at RG Leverett Ltd, we love Christmas. As we drive around the Norfolk countryside getting to jobs, we see the lengths that people go to in order to make their homes look festive. We thought we’d share some ideas in case you want to turn your roof into a winter wonderland this Christmas.
A String of Lights
The last few years have been dominated by hanging-icicle effect lights but, this year, we’ve noticed a return to the string of large coloured bulbs. The fashion for these things runs in cycles (presumably related to the life expectancy of a string of outdoor lights). If you are up a ladder installing your lights please respect basic ladder safety. Check your ladder before use. Make sure it is standing on firm level ground and don’t reach too far laterally when you are up high.
Fake Snow Blankets
Thanks to the balmy currents of the North Atlantic Drift warming our shores, the southern half of our island rarely sees snow long enough for it to settle on the roof. Help is at hand with fake snow blankets. Available online in rolls of up to 50m.
Flashing Santa and His Sleigh
For some people, Christmas roof decorations are not complete without a life size Santa Claus sitting in a sleigh lit up by 10,000 LEDs and pulled by nine model reindeer that strike up a chorus of Jingle Bells at 15 second intervals. If you are one of those people, please make sure that your roof can support all that weight before you embark on your project.
If you notice any problems with your roof or roofline whilst hanging your decorations or if you are worried the weight of your display has damaged your roof, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01603 418818 or email any questions to enquiries@roofsuk.co.uk.
