Recent RG Leverett Installation: Roof Balcony Renovation

There are few jobs that we find more satisfying than the renovation of a roof balcony: taking a balcony that has become neglected and possibly unsafe and turning it into a fit-for-purpose space that the whole family can enjoy. Check out our photo diary of a roof balcony renovation.

The first job was to remove the old tiles. They were of an older style and had become unsafe. You can see that the original plate glass skylights on the left had to be fenced off.

A brand new deck of timber is laid down. We have removed the old skylights.

The glass reinforced plastic (GRP) that forms the main structure of the balcony is laid and sealed.

For the finished surface, we sourced these interlocking anti-slip rubber tiles from Germany

The two new (very heavy!) skylights were well worth the effort. As you can see, the heavy duty glass is safe to walk on. The skylights don’t have to be fenced off, opening out the space.

The finished balcony - guaranteed for twenty-five years!
