Pitched Roofing Problems: Slipped or Broken Tiles
28/05/2015
Maintaining your pitched roof isn't always on your list of priorities, until of course, a problem occurs. Neglecting your pitched roof can cause problems such as damp patches on your ceiling, or finding broken slates on the ground outside your house which have been dislodged during high winds. At some stage the problem will have to be dealt with and maintenance will commence.
There are many reasons why problems occur with your roof such as damp or leaks, so in this week's blog we take a look at one of the common sources to these problems.
Slipped or broken slates or tiles
A roof is quite a harsh environment, it is faced with sun, wind, rain, frost and moss to name but a few, so it's understandable that tiles can crack or break. A slipped tile could be due to a number of things:
- A problem with the tile or slate has resulted in the nibs, which secure the tile in position, to come away or fall off
- Bad weather has moved the tile away from its normal position
- Nails that have started to corrode can cause problems
