Maintenance Tips For Maintaining Your Roof This Autumn
28/08/2015
Many of you will be clinging to the fact that it is still officially summer. With a bank holiday weekend coming up you will be keen to fire up that barbeque once again. However, in just over a months’ time we will be into autumn and it is therefore well worth putting some consideration into preparing your roof for the autumn weather.
If safe to do so, we would suggest getting up onto your roof and giving it a visual inspection – if you are not comfortable clambering up onto your roof, or if the roof is in a poor state of repair, we would always recommend that you contact a professional company to carry out the inspection for you.
Once on your roof, there are a few things worth paying attention to:
- Guttering: If you have overhanging trees in close proximity to your property, chances are that as the leaves begin to fall they will end up on your roof. A build-up of wet leaves can result in blockages and damage to your guttering, so be sure to clear them away before it develops into a more serious issue when the weather turns for the worst.
- Leaks: At this point in the year it is easy to overlook minor faults with your roof. Many will want to avoid the expense of having it repaired and instead choose to cross their fingers and hope for the best. No matter what size the problem, we would suggest getting it checked at the earliest opportunity to avoid the problem being exacerbated by the winter weather.
