Installation: New Insulated Liquid System for Thetford Community Centre
28/03/2017We hold these truths to be self-evident: that Thetford (the birthplace of Thomas Paine, author of the book The Rights of Man that inspired the American Declaration of Independence) should have the unalienable right to a community centre and that its community centre should have a functioning roof. How are you supposed to live life at liberty and pursue happiness when your roof is leaking?
The Centre of a Thriving Community
Thetford community centre is at the heart of a thriving community. The centre is available to hire for birthday parties, anniversaries and children’s parties. It is also the hub where many local clubs and societies hold their meetings. So, when they discovered that their old EPDM roof was failing, they called RG Leverett to see what we could do.
Our Recommendations
We carried out a full survey of the roof and recommended that the failed EPDM roof be replaced with an insulated liquid system. This would bring the building into compliance with Part L of the building code – the part that deals with thermal efficiency. The new insulated roof would mean less heat would be lost when the building was being heated in winter.
We also recommended that a previous asphalt covering that had not failed be left in place as a vapour control layer. This would help protect the building from the consequences of a build-up of condensation.
25 Year Guarantee
With our 25-year guarantee, the users of Thetford Community centre can rest assured that it will be a long time before their roof needs any further repairs.
